The Chi Cago rap and the textbook had the same information, however, the textbook had more details than the rap. The Etruscans and the Greeks both settled Rome. The Etruscans came from the north-central part of Rome and were metalworkers, artists, and architects. The Greeks had many colonies near Rome, and the Roman's borrowed the Greek's idea of gods, alphabets, art, and military techniques. The Latins were the first to settle Rome, however. Tarquin was the final king of Rome. The Romans got rid of the monarchy after things went wrong with Tarquin. They replaced the monarchy with a rule of two consuls. The Roman legion was 5000 soldiers. They fought against Carthage in the Punic wars. After the Punic Wars, the rich got richer and the plebians stayed poor. To keep the plebians from revolting, Rome supplied them with free bread and entertainment. Tiberius realized that courting plebians could be beneficial to Rome. Julius Caesar ruled from 100-44 BCE. He and two other men formed a triumvirate or rule of three men. Ceaser was liked by the common people, but after making himself dictator for life, Caesar's former ally, Brutus assassinates him for being too ambitious. Caesar's son Octavian takes over to form a triumvirate, however, the other two men leave the triumvirate, leaving Octavian on his own. Octavian turns Rome into an empire, and no longer a republic. This leads to the age of emperors.
