Today in class we did a worksheet on the key terms of the Ancient Egypt chapter. A lot of the key terms we defined in class yesterday, but there were some new words.
Key Terms
  • Cataract- shallow lengths of the nile river
  • Nome- a territorial divison in Egypt
  • Ka- an eternal life force that Pharaoh's had
  • Maat- Egyptian godess
Key Facts
  • Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamon's tomb in 1922
  • The Nile River provided Egypt with a reliable system of transportation and an annual deposit of fertile soil
  • Narmer was the king of Upper Egypt who united all of Egypt
  • Asian nomads known as the Hykos ruled the majority of Egypt
  • Jean-François Champollion deciphered the hieroglyphics on the Rosetta Stone
