  6. mummification- a process in which the skin and flesh of a corpse can be preserved

  8. papyrus- a material prepared in ancient Egypt from the pithy stem of a water plant, used in sheets throughout the ancient Mediterranean world for writing or painting on and also for making rope, sandals, and boats
3. How did being surrounded by deserts benefit Egypt?
The dessert shut out invadors.
4. How did egyptians view the pharaoh?
The pharaoh represented a god on earth, so they respected and obeyed him.
5. Why did Egyptians mummify bodies?
Egyptians believed that when someone died, their soul left their body. The soul would then return and be reunited with the body after it was buried. However, the soul needed to be able to find and recognise the body in order to live forever.
