Cartographers in West Wing

The cartographers are saying that by making places such as Africa and South America smaller, it makes these places seem less significant. This can be a problem in social equality because these places are sometimes thought of as poor and lesser than to Europe and the United States when in reality, they are much bigger. I agree with the points made because I think that it is unfair to portray these locations as lesser than they are. Before learning about this map, I thought that Russia was humongous and that Greenland and Africa were the same size. Now that I know the correct map, I no longer think of Russia as being so large.
